About Our Shop
Loie’s Custom Bike Shop celebrated our Grand Opening on December 5th, 2015. Proprietors, Lois "Loie" and Ron Thornton are providing a much-needed service for motorcyclists in the community, who previously had to get their bikes worked on, customized or detailed in Bloomington or Springfield. We are taking on this challenge in our "post-retirement" years, and we both have been avid motorcycle riders since we were kids.

Loie and Ron

Our knowledge helps get motorcycles repaired as well as created from scratch. We can help you realize your "Dream Bike." We work with new to vintage motorcycles of all types and brands, domestic and foreign. We service and customize Harley Davidson motorcycles. But we've had other interesting bikes as well, such as a vintage 1960s Chinese motorcycle with a side car. We also offer heated winter storage for your motorcycle. So stop in and have a coffee at our garage and let us know how we can help with your motorcycle needs. We have Salt Creek ABATE membership info, and check out our David Mann art gallery while you are visiting.

We can get the parts you need for your ride, including tires, and we have a lot of tires in stock. We also have the ability to go out and rescue bikes that break down on the road or get a flat tire.
We rescued Colin Dunn from Australia, who was riding Route 66 when his bike broke down. We got him back on the road the next day, and he has since been back to visit with us on his later Route 66 travels. The Thorntons are individual members of the Salt Creek Chapter of ABATE of Illinois and Route 66 Heritage Foundation of Logan County. Ron & Lois, along with the Salt Creek ABATE Chapter do a lot of volunteer work in the community, including helping with the Annual Salt Creek ABATE Motorcycle Show at The Mill. Ron and fellow Salt Creek ABATE volunteers spent many hours doing difficult volunteer work at The Mill, which allowed the museum to open on schedule in April, 2017.

We also founded and host the Annual Bike Blessing, which is now in it's 5th year, and is scheduled for April 28th, 2018. The event, with the help of Pastor Bigfoot, is designed to give blessings to motorcyclists for the upcoming riding season, and features a free meal and free live music. In 2017, the Bike Blessing was visited by Governor Bruce Rauner.
